Proud!

We are so proud of Brett. He has completed his LVN program!! He worked so hard going to school. I know that he would have love to have done so many other things than have to study almost every night. But we are thankful that he chose to make that sacrifice for us!

First Day of School...

Well, Mother's Day Out to be exact! I wasn't sure how today was going to go. Yesterday, I kept telling Becca she was going to school tomorrow and she would say, "No school." So I was getting worried that she wouldn't want to go. This morning was the same thing. She didn't want to get dressed and said, "No school." But then when she was dressed and holding her lunch box, she seemed ready to go. In the car she said, "Becca's school", so I was getting more optimistic. When we got there, she walked right in, no problem. I kissed her bye and left. I think I was more upset than she was. Good thing I know. I wouldn't want to have to repeat what I went through with Drew. It was terrible. He cried for months! But I am missing my baby! Our princess ready with her princess lunch box!

Trip to Baton Rouge

Last weekend, we (Mom, Dad, Jill, Drew, and Becca) went to Baton Rouge to visit my Grandma. My kids are really good car travelers. The trip is about 4 hrs and 30 minutes. But there were traffic delays on I-10 each leg of the trip which added about 30 more minutes. They didn't seem to mind. As long as the snacks and their "Silly Songs" CD held out, they were fine. We had a nice time with Grandma, who turns 91 next month!

Sat. morning Dad and I took the kids to the Baton Rouge zoo. It was a nice zoo. The kids especially enjoyed the snowcone Bob bought to help us cool down.

The training wheels are off and so is Drew. He has begun to ride his "big boy" bicycle. He doesn't ride for very long and needs help to start and stop, but it is a good beginning.

Toledo Bend

August 1st & 2nd we journeyed to Toledo Bend State Park in Louisiana for a mini-reunion with Brett's mom's side of the family. We had a nice time seeing Mammaw, Uncle Jimmie and Aunt Martha, and Uncle Roger and Aunt Linda. Drew and Rebecca loved spending time with cousins Amanda and Carson. Hopefully the next time more Coiles can join the fun!

The highlight of the trip for Drew and Rebecca was riding in a canoe for the first time. They both loved it. I thought that Becca might be a little scared because the canoe rocked quite a bit, but "no fear Sevier" showed up. She saw that Daddy was letting Drew paddle the canoe so "monkey see, monkey do" decided that she should paddle too!

He's leavin' on a jet plane...

Kelly, Mom, and Dad took Drew to Chicago July 27th through the 30th. It was Kelly's idea. Drew loves looking at airplanes and kept mentioning how he wanted to fly somewhere. His Tuh Tuh heard his "cries" and decided to take him on a trip. She wanted to go somewhere that would be too far to drive (thus needing to fly), a city with easy mass transit to get around, and fun things to do with Drew. Chicago fit the bill. Mom loves to travel and Dad loves his grandson so they decided to go along. They had a great time, walked a lot, saw a lot in a short time and said that Drew behaved wonderfully. Whew, what a relief!

They saw Sears Tower and Hancock Tower; took a boat tour; visited Shedd's Aquarium; spent time having fun at Navy Pier riding the Ferris Wheel and other rides. They toured the city on a bus. They saw fireworks. Drew experienced lots of different modes of transportation : plane, van shuttle, the subway/L, bus, and boat.

What a lucky, little boy to have such a sweet aunt (and grandparents) to want to take him on such a great trip. Hopefully next time Rebecca, Brett and I won't have to miss out on all the fun.
