Grandparent's Day

The first day parents are allowed to eat lunch in the cafeteria is Grandparent's Day. Bob and I joined Rebecca for her lunch time at 10:45 that feels more like brunch than lunch. Then we killed some time while waiting for Drew's lunch.

Showing off her classroom and seat

Had to see Drew's classroom, too!

Last Day in Paradise

After viewing Pearl Harbor, we toured around Honolulu.
Diamond Head

Waikiki Beach

Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach

This is where the Brady Family stayed when the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii.
Brett was such a trooper in helping me find it!

Another place the Bradys visited. A statue of  Hawaiian King Kamehameha.

Pearl Harbor

A moving experience was our visit to the Pearl Harbor National Monument/Memorial. It was so well done and an unforgettable experience. We visited the ship and then were able to take in all the exhibits and galleries. I could have stayed there all day reading and learning. The entire memorial/park recalls the war in the Pacific Theater of WWII.

Seeing the famous monument that spans across the USS Arizona.

This is the wall with all the names of those who were lost. So tragic.

Brett found a Sevier listed among the dead. Don't think he is a known relation.

The flag that flows over the ship.

A model that shows how the ship is resting on the ocean floor with the memorial above.

Spouting Horn

Our last day in Kauai was beautiful. We went to see Spouting Horn. The color of the ocean was amazing and it was so neat to see sea turtles passing by.

Another Day, More Beauty

We wanted to take a another hike and found this trail that led to 2 beautiful waterfalls, called Ho'opi'i Falls. At the first one, there were some local boys jumping off the cliffs into the base of the waterfall. Scary. Guess they knew right where to start and where to land. The other falls were much further down the thick jungle trail and a couple of times we did start to wonder if we were lost. But
very worth it to see the beauty.
Along the way we stopped to eat some wild berries.

Here Brett is eating his "snack" of berries.

In the middle of this picture is on of the boys who were jumping. He knows of a hidden place behind some of the rocks.

Setting off to find the second waterfall.

Yea! We found it!
