Gooooooooooooallllllllllllllllllll

Drew is playing soccer for the first time. The first "game" he ran after the ball like everyone else. Half the time he was looking at his feet. The next "game" he scored a goal. He was very proud of himself. So then something must have "clicked" because he kept talking about how he wanted to score more goals at the next game. Well last Saturday a new Drew took the field. He looked very determined and focused. He scored 3 goals!!! I think that his competitive nature may have been woken! If nothing else, he is having fun and that is what it should be all about.

Caden's birthday

Our nephew, Caden, turned 8 on October 5th. I have said it before and I am sure that I will say it again, but Drew and Rebecca are crazy about their cousins! Since the party was a few days after Caden's actual b'day, Drew was worried that we'd missed the party. I had to explain that it isn't always possible to have the party on the birthday. Happy Birthday, Caden!

What we've been up to

Our computer wasn't working for a few days. What a pain. You come to realize how dependent you are on technology when it isn't available for your use. Of course, I also realized how much a time suck it really is. I think I got more done and got more sleep without it. Hopefully, I will try to do what needs to be done and then get off. At least for a little while.

So here's what has been going on. Brett is working and we are so happy that he has a job and that he found it so quickly. Praise God. Whoo hoo! I think that I have already spent his first paycheck. Naw, just kidding, but I did go to Hobby Lobby and get some picture frames. Drew is in school and really enjoys it. He knows all his letters and most of the sounds. He practices writing his letters and can spell a few words (cat, dog, and toy). Rebecca also enjoys her school. She can count to 10 (sometimes skipping over numbers). She loves watching Dora the Explorer, Mickey Mouse and Caillou. I don't know what the magic is about that bald, little boy that has my children so enthralled. She loves to wear shoes, especially other people's. Me, I keep busy, but not sure with what.

Drew "styling" Rebecca's hair. See how she is all smiles. What a sweet brother/sister moment. I should have realized that it would go bad in a moment. When things are too quiet, you know that something is wrong. In the next couple of minutes he tangled her hair in a comb so severe that we thought we were going to have to cut her hair. Fortunately, we cut the teeth of the comb and after working for awhile, we were able to slip her hair off the comb. Drew was really only upset, not that he could have balded his sister, but that his comb was now trash! I didn't have the heart to take a picture of the predicament.

The "doctors" giving Tuh Tuh a check up. So sweet of them. Can you see that Rebecca's doctor glasses are really Mr. Potato Head's and her shoes are too big? Drew and Rebecca, the solution to health care.

National Night Out

Last night we attended our National Night Out. It wasn't too hard for us to attend. We just had to walk across the street. It was a great time to visit with the neighbors, eat, and let the kids play. Since we live in an older neighborhood, we are so fortunate to have so many children on the block around our kids' ages. The constables stopped by to give coloring books and stickers and even a horse from the mounted patrol came. What a treat. I was a little concerned that Rebecca would keep all her fingers, but she wasn't afraid at all to feed the horse the carrot. A nice neighbor with a great camera took the photos.
