Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum, Summertime

Summertime. It is a great time, but here in Houston it is so HOT! And who knew that this summer it would rain so much. I have tried to keep us busy and entertained (on a budget). Some things we did included swimming, going to the splash park, seeing FREE movies at the movie theater (loved those), bowling, going to the library and playing with friends.

At the Children's Museum: it will be awhile before we go back. It was very crowded (we went on the free Thursday night, I think I see a theme with the word Free) and many of the activities are too difficult for Becca and she is "too old" for the toddler area.

Bowling: This is the first time that the kids have gone bowling and they really liked it. The bowling alley puts up "bumpers" so that the kids are able to knock down some pins every time. A couple of times, Rebecca's ball has not made it all the way down the alley, and I have had to go after it. But as we all know, Rebecca "can do it myself".

The Greatest Show on Earth

We took the kids to the circus. I think Brett and I enjoyed it more than the kids did. They liked it, but I feel we can wait a couple of years before we go back again. About halfway through, Rebecca said she was ready to go home. And since Drew didn't take my advice and nap before we went, he was really tired by the end of the show. It was nice that before the circus began, you were able to get to see some of the animals and they also had jugglers, clowns, and magicians performing.

Kelly's birthday was July 9th.

Rain, Rain Go Away

She finally did it!!

Well I will spare you the gory details, but it finally seems as if Becca is potty-trained. I thought we would never be done. Aren't boys supposed to be harder than girls? Drew was a breeze compared with her. She's had the first part down for awhile, but I thought the second part may never come. We bribed with everything that I thought would be of interest to her. Nothing worked. We told her she could go play at Rocket Town (the play area at our church's Family Life Center), she could go to a friend's house to play, go to Chuck E. Cheese. Rebecca works on her own time frame (meaning she is stubborn) and the bribes really didn't work. But Drew knew what the reward was and he wasn't going to miss out on a chance to go to Chuck E. Cheese. Of course I am not sure why I was so ready for her to be out of diapers. Public restrooms are really gross. Much different for a girl than for a boy. And what excuse will I need to go to Target if it isn't to buy diapers???

Fourth of July

We celebrated the fourth in our usual manner. We went to our church's patriotic service on Saturday night and then went to watch fireworks on Sunday. After it rained most of the week, I was glad that it stopped so that we could enjoy the 4th! We all got to use Kelly's new car for the purpose in which it was intended... so we could all ride together (in seats with seatbelts) to watch fireworks! I love the Fourth of July!
