I took Rebecca for her 2 year check up this morning. She is definitely more hesitant of the doctor's office than Drew is. Drew doesn't mind going, but the minute Rebecca saw the nurse she didn't want to go into the room. She cried when she first went in the room, but then calmed down and did great for the doctor. She was able to sit in my lap the entire time and that helped, as did the animal crackers that kept coming her way. She is 34'' tall (50th percentile)and weighs 25 1/2 lbs (40th percentile). (By comparison, Drew was 36 1/2" tall and 30 lbs. at age 2). Praise God for the good checkup and healthy children.

Rebecca turns 2!!
Our baby had her 2nd birthday on Saturday. I can't believe how fast the time goes. We celebrated at my parents' house and I know Rebecca had a great time.

Ulmuls
On Monday, Houston had some unbelievable weather. Temp in the 80's and no/low humidity. Since it is such a rarity we took advantage of it and went to the zoo. It was Rebecca's first time and Drew hadn't been since before Becca was born. When we got in the car to go home, Becca kept saying, "Ulmuls", "ulmuls". I couldn't figure out at first what she was saying, but then I realized she was asking for more ANIMALS. I guess that means that she liked it.

Happy Mommy
On Mother's Day, we had Grammy and Papa over for lunch. That night we went out to dinner with my mom and grandmother. I will have to see if Brett is interested in giving me a Mother's Week. That would involve no cooking, no cleaning, no taking care of kids... wait I mean that for me...not for him! Brett just said "How ironic, Mother's Day involves not being a mother!!" In all seriousness, both Brett and I have been blessed with great moms and we are so fortunate that they are involved in their grandkids lives. Thanks Moms for all you have done and all that do for us!
Learning the finer points of photography with Papa
At least one of my kids would take a picture with me on Mother's Day. Drew, you are still in the will. Becca...not so sure!! :)
Grammy and her generations (please forgive the way Becs is sitting, not the most lady-like)
We kept trying to get Rebecca to say Happy Mother's Day and all she could say is "Happy Mommy". That's ok, I will take it.

Mom's Birthday
Last Friday, May 8th, was Mom's Birthday. Dad took Mom, Kelly, and Brett to Pappadeux's for dinner. I was really disappointed that I needed to stay behind with the kids and didn't get to enjoy all that wonderful seafood (sentence dripping with sarcasm). For anyone reading this that doesn't know me too well, I don't like seafood at all so it was not much of a sacrifice on my part. I did try my hand at making a cake and (from Rebecca's picture) I guess it wasn't too bad.

Congrats Brett!
All his studying paid off last week and Brett passed his finals with A's and B's. I am so proud of him and all his hard work.

Moms and Muffins
Last Thursday, I went to Drew's school for Moms and Muffins. It was so sweet. They sang some songs for the moms. He showed off a portrait that he made of me. Apparently he thinks I am a blond (he gave me yellow hair).
Nic Nic
Drew and Rebecca decided to have a picnic. Rebecca calls this a nic nic. Even Belle wanted to be in on the fun. (This picture is from a few weeks ago).
Rebecca is talking so much more everyday. She is saying lots of 2 word combinations. We love it when she tells us to "mon" and gestures with her arm. She says that when she wants us to "come on" and get something for her. She definitely has opinions on everything and is getting sent to time out more frequently. She is also a dramatic girl and enjoys flopping herself down when she isn't getting her way and needs a good cry. Her favorite show is Calliou. Drew and Becca love this show. I am not sure why. They want to dance whenever they hear the music. Rebecca asks for it all the time. They also like Dora and Diego, which Becca calls "Go, go eee" for both shows. She wants to watch movies and says "movies mommy". I promise that I try to get my kids to play... ugh it is such a battle some days over the T.V.

My Picasso and Van Gogh
This week has been an inside the house week. Tuesday was thunderstorms and floods. Fortunately no flooding in our house! Wednesday, things were still wet outside. Then late Thursday, Drew says that he isn't feeling well. So on Friday, I was wondering how to occupy their time and finally get the TV turned off. Painting did the trick. They were kept busy for over an hour. It was wonderful.
