And Finally

On Rebecca's actual birthday, Bob took her to McDonalds for a special lunch. Wow~ that was a lot of celebrating for a little girl. But she sure is special and we love her tons. I can't believe that I have a 4 year old. Where did the time go?

A little about Becca as she turns 4. She loves to play with Barbies and dolls. She loves Disney Princesses. She likes to dress up in crazy costumes that usually include shoes too big for her and some kind of hat. She loves our dog, Belle. She isn't afraid of people and will go into new situations easily. She eats fairly well, enjoys carrots and loves a peanut butter sandwich. She is very girlie and loves to have her nails painted. She is our princess and I am so thankful to God for her!

We went to the Seviers' house to celebrate Marcus' and Rebecca's birthday. Marcus turned a nice, even number which I won't mention. (But if you are really curious multiply Rebecca's age by 10!)

We continued to celebrate Rebecca's birthday at my parents' house. Shame on me, I didn't even get a picture of her big gift from us. We got her a barbie bike. She looks so cute riding it.

Rebecca celebrated her 4th birthday by having a tea party. She wore a fancy party dress and I tried to "fancy" up the playroom. The girls each received a party hat to wear, painted a tea cup and saucer to take home, and made a bracelet. I hope that everyone had a great time.

Warning... I may do a little bragging in this post. Mom always says that it is terrible to brag, but I just can't help myself!
Rebecca celebrated the end of ballet by dancing in the recital. The girls (mostly 3 and 4 year olds in her group) danced to "How much is that doggie in the window." She took lessons at our church and it was such a sweet, little group. Rebecca did great. She paid attention to the teacher and performed the routine so well. We were so proud. Oh, and I also thought that she looked so precious in her costume. Thanks to Grammy, Aunt Rachel, and Caden for coming to see her. She loved having her fan club in the audience.

Mother's Day and Mom's Birthday

This year mom's birthday was also Mother's Day. Thankfully she gave up her desire to have seafood so that I could enjoy my Mother's Day meal. We had Italian. Yum! Happy Birthday and Mother's Day to a great mom who was/is always so sacrificial to her family. I am so thankful to God for my 2 blessings. I love being their mom! Many days are long and hard, but the joy of hearing them say, "I love you, mom," is the best. Drew really seemed to understand Mother's Day this year and made several sweet cards and items for me. He also said that I wasn't to do any work around the house. I think Mother's Day needs to come around more often!

Our friends, Corbin and Gavin, celebrated their birthdays last weekend with a dinosaur party at the Museum of Natural Science in Sugarland. It was a lot of fun. Happy Birthday boys!

There was a dig pit where the kids could dig to unearth a dinosaur.

Moms and Muffins

Rebecca's school invited the moms to come and have muffins to celebrate Mother's Day. The children sang a few songs and presented us with some "gifts". I received a card, a picture of myself (with red hair and red eyes and no body), paper flowers, and she answered some questions about me.

Here are her answers (in italics):


My mom is 40 years old. (that is too close to the actual number. I was really hoping she would say that either I am 78 or 3, but no, she is only off by a little!)

My mom is the prettiest when I got married.

My mom likes to make chicken. Not sure about that, but at least she didn't say chicken nuggets or hot dogs.

My mom always says, "I love you." So glad this was her answer and not "Go to time out" or "Just a minute" because I feel like I say these words all the time. I do love this little girl!!!!!!!!

Amanda is a teenager

Amanda is officially a teenager!! My favorite girls!

For Amanda's birthday party with her friends (at a later time), she was going to have her party at a park and play games from the T.V. show, Minute to Win It. So the kids tried some of them out beforehand.

Future Picasso???

It was time for the school's annual G/T Expo. Drew was chosen to participate in an art project with some other students from his class. The group learned about several different artists and then they each created a piece of artwork in the style of the artist. A talented mom taught the kids. They learned about Georges Seurat and pointillism, Monet and impressionism, Georgia O'Keefe who painted big flowers, and the abstract painter, Jackson Pollock.

The kids chose their favorite piece they made to be displayed. Drew chose his splattered painting in the style of Jackson Pollock. He named his piece, The Colorful Jungle. He chose that one as his favorite because he liked the way the paint was on there and how the colors mixed together. Also, he "saw" different animals and shapes in the paint. I never really understood abstract painting before. But seeing it through Drew's eyes really opened up mine. I love his abstract painting and how the colors all came together and that some of the paint really looks like a bird, a squirrel, and a snake. Great job, Drew!
