VBS

Our church's VBS theme this year was Round Up. I helped out in Drew's room. (I wonder how long he will want me in his class??) Rebecca was fine to be in her room without me. Aww, the differences between them. As usual, Second goes all out and they had a blast. We are so blessed to go to a church that really teaches my kids all about Jesus and how important He is in their life with an emphasis on the fun of church and God. It is a tiring week, but so worth it!

Headed home

Here are some miscellaneous pictures from around our hotel. The setting of the hotel was beautiful, high up on a hillside. But that meant that there were LOTS of stairs for us to climb.

The view from the hotel

The top part of the picture shows the hotel

Drew on some of the many stairs we climbed, along with some of the beautiful flowers

I think Drew took this picture of Kelly

Kelly planned it so that we would head home on the fourth. It was important that this fireworks- loving family would be back to Houston in time to see them.
Glad I remembered to pack our red, white, and blue clothes

All smiles on the ride home, what a wonderful trip!! Thanks, Kelly for planning a great trip!!!!

Beach Time

Sunday we made our way to Mission Beach. It wasn't the prettiest beach that I have been to, but the kids had Fun, Fun, Fun! We were worried that we would make our way to the beach and they would put one toe in and be done. But not my two. They played in that water and were not bothered by the temperature. (it wasn't too bad after you got used to it).

She'd make a cute California Girl, right?

My Beach Boy,

Doesn't his face say it all about the time that he is having?

San Diego Zoo

Day 3 found us making our way to the San Diego Zoo. It is an amazing zoo and we especially enjoyed seeing the pandas, polar bears, and hippos that we don't have at our zoo.

Rebecca kept petting this sculpture of a baby polar bear.

Seeing the pandas was a highlight

Drew was so excited to see a lion, even if it was a sleeping one!

It was a warm day (warm for us from Houston, hot in San Diego!) so even the elephants had the right idea to cool off!

Legoland

Day 2 found us traveling north to Legoland. We rode the train up the coast, but it was foggy so we didn't have the best views of the ocean.

Here we are riding the train.
Just me and my gal

Yea! We made it!

Legoland was such a wonderful place and the kids were at the perfect ages to enjoy it. Drew was even able to get his roller coaster fix on a couple of rides. I really enjoyed Legoland as well. Everything is created out of Legos. Really unbelievable what all they can create. The weather was wonderful which made going to an amusement park in July so great. Our first ride was a "safari" and all the animals along the way were out of Legos.

Kelly and Becca on the first ride

Sandra and Bob don't want to miss out on the fun, either!

Having fun on a roller coaster that was just Becca's size and speed!

On a boat ride through storybook land. Various character such as Hansel and Gretel, the 3 Pigs, Little Red Riding hood were displayed.

Drew with one of Daddy's favorite characters

So much to do and try

Fun rides

Reminded me of Astroworld's Bamboo Shoot (but on a much smaller version!)

This section is called Miniland. It was fascinating. There are replicas of major cities and landmarks. The detail put into it was amazing. Here Rebecca, Drew and Kelly are in D.C. in front of the Capitol.

There was a new Star Wars section and Drew was in Heaven! Famous scenes from each of the Star War episodes were created. Drew wanted pictures of every scene to show Brett. He finally took the camera from me so that he could get the pictures that he wanted. I was so sad that Brett wasn't there to see Drew's excited face.

Mom and Drew in the Big Easy. There was a Mardi Gras parade going by!

A final ride to end the day! Look at that happy face! (I mean Rebecca's, I just realized that Drew's face isn't that happy!)

What a fun time we had!
