Whales 2010

Drew swam on our neighborhood Swim Team (the Whales) for the first time this year. He made so much progress. In the beginning of May, he couldn't swim the entire length of the pool. By the end of May, he swam the entire length of the pool stopping occasionally on the lane ropes to catch his breath. Now he can swim the length of the pool. He is working on his freestyle, turning his head to the side and using his "big arms". He has also been trying to learn backstroke. His dives went from pretty much jumping in to now where most of the time his head and hands hit the water first.

"Swimmers, take your mark!"

Here he is taking a breather on the ropes.

He participated in the meets and did so great. He definitely wasn't the fastest, but the progress he made was wonderful. We are so proud of him.

Isn't he the cutest swimmer?

Tonight was the End of the Year Party and Awards Night. Drew won the Coach's Award for Boys 6 and under (there were about 12 boys in this age group!). This award was for the boy who was cooperative, determined, and tried hard everyday. I am bragging (forgive me mom), but we are such proud parents.
